I got a major outbreak of the latest virus the effected the lsass.exe file. In my frustration to try to stop it, I disabled RPC in services. Now I can't restart it. In the services control screen, I can't bring up a properties screen to restart it. Also when I right mouse click on the service "start" is not available.

I also try'd starting it via command line -> net start RrpSs - that didn't work either.

Does anyone know a registry way to restart this service? Or could I control the server from another server to do this?

I am critically down. If you can help please respond asap after response I'll gladly give my cell phone number so you can call to help me through it!~

That happened to me a few months ago.

Sounds like you still have a virus, maybe that new gaobot one that messes with RPC services.
Is the service still disabled? If so, that's why no dos command will work. Once you get rid of the virus(es) the property page should come up again.

This is just to make sure, but remember that when you edit the properties of a service, you must set the service to either Manual or Automatic as the 'StartUp Type' and APPLY the changes for the Start button to become available. I'm hoping you knew this, but sometimes even the littlest things can be a big problem....
