I cant start QuarkXPress 5 up!

I have installed QuarkXPress 5 but when I try booting it up I see the QuarkXPress 5 Banner then a message saying:

This version of QuarkXPress cannot be run with this system. [4]

The only option is to close this message and then QuarkXPress 5 packs up all together.

Has any body come across this problem?

pls tell me on which OS you are trying to launch QXP?

Also as a test try to navigate to the root folder of QXP. open a folder named as "Preferences" there and delete the XPress Preferences.prf. Then try launching QXP.

this test fix major errors... but tell me the OS first and the exact error message...

I will divine that you are a Mac user and you are either running something before OS8.6 or OSX.

Hi there, sorry about the slow reply. I am on OSX and the install goes straight to classic OS9.2. It installs ok its when you see the Quark logo (Flower), name and stuff, is when I get this:

This version of QuarkXPress cannot be run with this system. [4]

I found something onit @ Quarks Tech Support about it about its asking you to set the correct launguage (thats English just incase). But still the same problem.

Boot from OS9 when you do the installation. You can start up Quark in OSX after the installation is successful but it is best to always boot into OS9 directly. Quark does too many wacky things in OSX.

i think the probs are with quark's pref file only. just delete that file and test...

i don't think quark is wrong every time in OS X.

Thanks guys, I finally got it working by restarting fresh in os9 and reinstall from there insted of through osx.
