I have imported a large number of fonts to my Windows\Fonts folder. I needed to reinstall Win98 so among other things I backed up the Fonts folder to a different drive. Afterwards, when I tried to copy the backup folder into the new Windows folder, I ran into problems. As soon as it had started copying it stopped with this message:
Error Copying File
Cannot copy VERDANA: there has been a sharing violation.
The source or destination file may be in use.
I then opened the backup folder intending to select everyting except Verdana and do the copy. I was surprised to find that only 62 files were displayed. I checked the folder's properties and it contains 864 files with 44.6MB of data - about what I would have expected it to contain. The 62 files displayed are the same ones that are shown in the new Fonts folder i.e. the standard Office 2000 fonts I would guess. Another odd thing is that the new folder's properties say that it contains 76 files (8.97MB) although I have "Show all files" selected in Folder Options.
So I'm stumped. I know the files are there; i just can't get at them.
