i can' install windowx xp on a toshiba notebook

i try to install on a toshiba notebook a windows xp
begfore was installed a same windows but i format a hd because was full of virus
and now when i try to install all go well untill he start to write on hd and a notebook shut down

somebody can help me?

What are the install steps you are using to install XP? When you chose the hard drive to install to did you format the partition to NTFS and then install or just install?

I would think you would need to format the drive partition before you installed just to get rid of the old problems.
 
Try running ChkDsk /r from the Recovery Console.

The hard drive manufacturer will have free diagnostic software to thoroughly check your drive.

These articles have a very good check list of things to check which may prevent installation and setup.
