I am working on a book that have 8 different parts. These 8 parts contain about 5 chapters each. I've created a file for the CHAPTERS of each PART. I want to create a running header to place the name of the PART for each chapter. The PART title is under a different file than each CHAPTER. How do I tag the title of the part so I can use it in a variable definition for a header?

Is there a way to create a new Building Block to use with a user-defined Marker Type? This is rather difficult to explain. Basically, I want the book to be consistent so there are no overrides.

Thank you for your help.

I think you answered your own question. Select "Special > Variables" and create either:
* one variable called "Part" that you edit for each part section, making sure to import Variables into only that section for where that Part definition holds true
* several Part variables that are defined as needed and use them in your various part sections as needed (can then use the variable in both the Part 'title' and the header/footer for the part section pages.
