i am using ddr333 but after i bought the ddr ram i found out that my mobo only support ddr266...can i still use the ddr333???

Normally yes, it will not be a problem.
Unless you have a wierd exception, but I do not think so.

Pascal.

Yep. You can use a higher speed RAM at a lower speed, e.g. PC 3200 (DDR 400) will work with at 2700 (DDR333) and 2100 (266). Running it lower at its recommended speed will be perfectly okay. If you were using it the other way around (running DDR266 at DDR333) then there would be problems.

well. that mean all the remaining speed will be wasted.

That's true but it gives you an opportunity to use the memory because its backward compatible and utilise the ram better when you upgrade the mobo.

i am planning to get another stick of ram..
should i buy ddr266 or get back the ddr333 ????

It's usually a good idea to go for the same type of RAM when you install it. Go for DDR333.

I agree with Xemus, buy the same sort of RAM you already have.
True, the chips will be under-used, but then again that also means they a liable to last longer. Anyway, they can be reused in a future motherboard upgrade.

Pascal.
