my monitor keeps giving me a check video cable connection please help asap

Do you have onboard video built into your motherboard? Is there any way to disable it (check the manual). Check the manufacturer's web site for a bios update.

it has onboard video card but the monitor dosent work with that either..i cant do anything without the monitor .

Is is possible your cable is bad?
Haven't another to try?
Is this all of a sudden, or were you installing new hardware?
Is it a new install, or was it already running and suddenly gave you the warning on boot?

the monitor works according to the test . when not pluged to computer the screen shows the proper test screen. that is why i tried to install new video card. the power suply was bad so i had to replace it that is when i found out the monitor wont work. without the monitor i cant figure out how to fix problem thanks for any help given

Did you connect the monitor cable to the NEW card? Make sure it isn't connected to the onboard video connector.
Also, you could have a bad mobo, bad RAM or Bad CPU, etc..
(since you had to change the PSU, it could have blown something). Jim

Please come back and let us know if your
problem is fixed and what fixed it!! [thumbsup2]

With the install of the new video card it may have further fritzed the display.
Have you tried restoring defaults in the BIOS by (powered down and unplugged) moving the jumper? Your motherboard manual will show you where it is...it's usually near the battery. Just move the jumper to the other end and then move it back.
Anfps26's suggestion is relevant...the PS may have taken something else with it.
Are you certain the video was bad? (as in trying it in another machine)
