I am new in DNS can you help me?.

Hi.
I am learning about dhcp, i am using IIS and we have our intranet page running ok, but the link to acces this resource is:

http://123.58.20.1/intranet

and we have a router with an static IP over Internet, and it works good, but in both cases we need to acces to intranet page like this:
In local LAN:

http://123.58.20.1/intranet

And in the Internet WAN:

http://200.67.202.231/intranet

Today my boss told me that he want to access in both cases like this:
In local LAN:

http://intranet.amco-internacional.com

And in the Internet WAN:

http://intranet.amco-internacional.com

How can i do this in the DNS to redirect, the initial address (

http://123.58.20.1/intranet)

to the new address (

http://intranet.amco-internacional.com)?.

Any idea?

If both addresses are going back to the same webserver then just use the external ip other wise you will have to create two host that a different. Problem is if you setup your DNS with the same two pointers going to the different IP's the poeple on your lan side would be able to access the the page no problem but people who are external will run into problems if only 1 IP address is available for them to access from the outside.

Anyway to setup the follow, firstly goto your DNS server and add a pointer in, host(A) to point to 123.50.10.1 so you would at intranet > 123.50.10.1. Once you have done this goto IIS and setup the site with a host header of intranet.amco-internacional.com . once you have done that set the directoty of the website to

http://wwwroot/intranet.

Now when poeple type

http://intranet.amco-internacional.com

it should automatically load the default page for you.
