I am having some issues with a user replying to emails. When this user replies to some emails the address that is placed in the TO section of the email has single quotes arount it. This causes the email to bounce back with the error below.

Original Message----- From: System Administrator [mailto:postmaster@KerryCollection.com] Sent: Friday, June 20, 2003 9:46 AM To: John Lane Subject: Undeliverable: RE: How about this for your e-mails to churches? Your message To: 'Steve Robles' Subject: RE: How about this for your e-mails to churches? Sent: Fri, 20 Jun 2003 09:39:06 -0700 did not reach the following recipient(s): 'Steve Robles' on Fri, 20 Jun 2003 09:45:44 -0700 Unable to deliver the message due to a recipient problem The MTS-ID of the original message is: c=us;a= ;p=the kerry collec;l=MAIL0306201641NCBBTLPS MSEXCH:MSExchangeIS:Corporate:MAIL

If the address is deleted and manually entered it goes without error. It just errors out when the reply is used.

This problem does not happen all the time so it is hard to trouble shoot. The user is using Outlook 2000 and Windows XP.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Have you checked the user's contacts folder. Look at the contact Steve Robles for example, is his e-mail address in the contact's properties? If not, type it in, then try replying. I suppose it could be something in the formatting of certain e-mails he/she is receiving.

Thanks Matt,

The email address for Steve Robles is in the contacts properties. If I create a new message and click on TO and choose his address from the contact list it works fine. It only fails on occasion when the user replies to him. This is a big issue to the user so I contacted Microsoft and they have no clue either. I have researched this issue to death with no luck.

Something I left out is the user is using POP3.

If you can think of anything else I would appreciate it.

Does it happen with the same senders all the time, or does it vary? Perhaps reinstalling Outlook and creating a new pst file might be a valid test, if it works okay, import the old pst and see if it still occurs.

Matt,

It has happened to different contacts, only 2 or 3 though. All other contacts work fine. The PST file he is using is a brand new pst file I created. Everything else is working fine. If I recreate the contact it usually fixes the problem for that contact. That might be the answer for right now if recreating the pst again does not work. I will keep investigating and if you think of any other Ideas please let me know.

Thanks
