I have 2 existing Version 10 Crystal Reports that show show employee earnings information by Year and Period in different formats. Report A is a summary report while Report B is more detailed. Both reports use record selection formulae to limit the report results to the Year and Period selected by the end user.

I want to set up a hyperlink which allows the user to click on the employee's name in Report A which displays Report B for this employee (for the same Year/Period selected in Report A).

I have managed to set up a hyperlink but unfortunately although Report B is displayed - it is not for the correct Employee/Year/Period.

The Help talks about three options "Context Report Part", "Design View Report Part" and "Preview Report Part". I am not sure which one I should be using and I don't seem to get the "Preview Report Part" option on Paste Link (any idea why?).

Another approach would be to use Report B as an on-demand subreport that is linked to the main report on Year, Period, and Employee. While in the main report, you could then go to format->subreport->subreport tab->on-demand subreport caption and enter:

{table.employeename}

The employee name will then appear as the link to the detailed subreport.
