I have a long Word doucment containing many pages. On various pages I have hyperlinks to documents that are located outside of the main Word document. The links to the outside Word files work fine but what I do not like what is happening is this.

When I want to go back to the main Word doc that contains the link I clicked to open the outside file it takes me to page one of the main doc instead of to the page where I clicked the link to the outside doc.

How do I 'go back' to the page that has the link I clicked when I close or click on the 'go back' arrow of the outside doc?

I don't mean to sound dumb but I'm not good at writing the code so I will need your help here too. (thank you!)

TIA,
cw

You need to return to the original document and use Goback to return to the previous edit point. Is that sufficient for your needs. If not, please explain what you are trying the achieve.

What version are you using? I am using XP (2002) and my back button returns me to the page I hyperlink out from, not page 1.

Sorry for the delay in responding...

I'm using Word 2000.

Tfi...you are correct...I want my goback to take me to the original doc and to the exact location.

At the moment...my goback takes me to the original doc but to the very beginning of the original doc, not to the location where I clicked on the new doc link.

Gerry...your XP 'goback' actions are what I want to achieve.
