We are getting ready to contract with an outside call center to help us with call overflows. Is there a way I can create a hunt group and have it point to the company's 800 number? Or do you know if any easier way?

thanks for you help

Is the business you are in one which involves life, and limb, like a elctrical utility, EMS, fore, etc. If so that changes the picture.

The hunt group can be set up to *forward* calls to an offsite number. *forward* in this case actually means in most cases conferencing the incoming call to an outgoing trunk which calls the outside number, then conferences the two calls together. This means that each call being *forwarded* out will use two trunks, the incoming called trunk, and the trunk conferenced to go out on. That means when you reach your capacity to handle incoming calls using your onsite manpower, you can forward half as many calls as you have remaining unused trunks. Note this would busy out all the lines you have set up to be avalaible for the *forwarding* group to use. You should hodl some back in case EMS needs to be called from your site, or other needed outgoing calls.

Another way is to have a trunk capable of remote call forwarding from the telco. If this trunk is the lead number in your telco hunt group, all calls forward when forwarded. If this trunk is the last line in the telco hunt group, it should overflow when forwarded.
