Thanks in advance for your wisdom!

I have an 0x32 with 6.1 software. I have a client who has a customer service hunt group and wants to overflow calls not answered after 4 rings to an external answering service.

Suggestions?

Deborah

since you are using a hunt group you can assign an overflow DN to send the calls to when the call has not been answered at 15 30 45 seconds etc. get a old phone and hook it up to a port and make that the overflow DN, feature 4 that phone to the external answering service. you would have to set up routing and destination codes on the ICS for this to work.

alternately my suggestion is to get the local telco to forward your incoming lines on dont answer to the external service (this is the same thing that the local telco does for voicemails) btw telco calls the incoming line group a hunt group also, different functions entirely so don't be too confused when you hear it.

jerry's first suggestion sounds best. It'll give you hands on control of the call routing, and will apply to calls transferred to the HG from another extension.

Anytime I've gotten the LEC involved with forwarding, I've lived to regret it.
