What I need to accomplish sounded easy enough at first and I am probably just missing something simple but it is really bugging me. I needed to have an 800 number ring to 3 different extensions (one after another) and then if no-one answers go to the last person's voicemail on the list.

I have set up a coverage path to go to the first three extensions then to our Audix hunt group. In Audix I have set up our auto-attendant routing so that the DNIS value routes to the last person's mailbox instead of its own. However when I set this up on the DNIS for the 800 number it rings the 3 users as normal but just rings when it should go to the hunt group. Dialing the DNIS digits internally works fine and it all worked both internally and externally on the test DID I was using. I have checked the trunk group settings on the LD circuits and temporarily changed them to match the DIDs. The only thing I was unable to change at that time was the service type which is set to mega800 on the LD while the DIDs are using cbc.

We were just upgraded from a G3R v8 to an S8710 CM 3.0 so I am also having to re-learn all my commands and the locations of all the fields. Any help or thoughts would be much appreciated. It is entirely possible I am making this more complicated than I need to.

Try a list trace tac command. Insert the tac of the inbound trunk group. Make a test call and see what is being passed as the call progresses through the coverage path.

Hope this helps

I ran the trace as you suggested. When I use the DID it works like so, I can see it being answered by an Audix station (4883) when using point4:

08:33:37 active trunk-group 13 member 182 cid 0x3254
08:33:37 dial 2065
08:33:37 ring station 2065 cid 0x3254
08:33:47 no answer station 8421 cid 0x3254
08:33:47 coverage-path 15 point 2 cid 0x3254
08:33:47 ring station 8454 cid 0x3254
08:33:52 no answer station 8454 cid 0x3254
08:33:52 coverage-path 15 point 3 cid 0x3254
08:33:52 ring station 8483 cid 0x3254
08:33:57 no answer station 8483 cid 0x3254
08:33:57 coverage-path 15 point 4 cid 0x3254
08:33:59 active station 4883 cid 0x3254
08:34:03 idle trunk-group 13 member 182 cid 0x3254

However when using the LD trunk group I get this in a loop:

08:38:51 Calling party trunk-group 13 member 174 cid 0x3329
08:38:51 Calling Number & Name XXXXXXXXXX NO-CPName
08:38:51 active trunk-group 13 member 174 cid 0x3329
08:38:51 dial 2065
08:38:51 ring station 2065 cid 0x3329
08:39:01 no answer station 8421 cid 0x3329
08:39:01 coverage-path 15 point 2 cid 0x3329
08:39:01 ring station 8454 cid 0x3329
08:39:11 no answer station 8454 cid 0x3329
08:39:11 coverage-path 15 point 3 cid 0x3329
08:39:11 ring station 8483 cid 0x3329
08:39:21 no answer station 8483 cid 0x3329
08:39:21 coverage-path 15 point 4 cid 0x3329
08:39:21 idle trunk-group 13 member 174 cid 0x333f

I'm beginning to wonder if this is a carrier issue as it looks like it is dropping my trunk and re-starting the call. Furthermore, if I remove one of the stations from the coverage path (reducing the number of rings) it works flawlessly. I can also make each station ring only once and it also works. Has anyone run into this before? The carrier in this case is MCI.

Could it be that there is some kind of timer at MCI, set to 30 secs (looking at your trace file). When a call is unanswered after these 30 secs the call is disconnected by the provider.

Since you are stating that reducing the amount of coverage point and/or the amount of rings all worsk fine I take it this could be the issue.

Check MCI for this, or make sure that the call is answered withing this 30 seconds (by indeed reducing the amount of rings and/or coverage points).
