Hunt Group Appearances? Please help with a solution...

I have multiple business being run from one switchboard. The incoming calls for each business route through a hunt group to the answering stations (switchboard operators).

The called number/hunt group name is displayed while the line is ringing, but not when answered. At that point, the 4412D+ phones indicate the Caller ID data only.

I need the operators to be able to identify the called number upon answering, so that they can properly answer the call (ie "Thanks for calling BUSINESS 1"). During peak call times, the operator will quickly answer the phone before noting the display information. This leaves them unsure of the appropriate announcement.

Perhaps we could have each hunt group ring to a different appearance?

Are there other/better solutions to this problem?

Thanks!

we do that in our business too. you have a few options:

1 Use phonemanager - this shows the name for the duration of the call
2 Use phonemanager pro and set it to pop on ddi. put the ddi into a database which is compatible, eg. Act, and all details will show for the call
3 Use Tapi and custom made software basically doing the popping on DDI.

I was hoping for a solution that doesn't require the use of a PC.

Is there anyway to make the individual hunt groups ring to different buttons on the phone?

What about running 4.1. and using the call tags on the incomming call routes. will it stay up then.

or going all out and create a phantom user for each calling group and put bridged appearance buttons on the reception phone, then the calls will come on the same buttons every time for the same group. Not very elegant but if the receptionist can't remember what group the call is for then that would remind her by looking at what button the call is, but the display would still go to default.

Westi,
Will that work. last time i had bridged appearances of a phantom it would not ring unless i plugged a phone into the port to make the phantom a real user. this was 3.2 but it would not work any other way. has it changed? If it has it would be great...

I thought I had that working somewhere, but now I doubt myself, I will try that out, but I can only do that on Monday when I am back to work. I will let you know if it works.

If you route the call with a functioncode with the name to a huntgroup the name stay,s.

code = 100
feature = Dial Extn
Telphonenr = 200S"Reception" (200 = huntgroupnumber)

What about using the wiper option?

The call rings and then once it is answered it can play a wav file throught the handset that says "Company A" and then connects you to the call. I have used this before and it works well.

big70: works like a charm

kwing: I couldn't get it working any more I must have dreamt that it works or maybe my imaginary IP Office did it for me. I tried it with a Small IPO and release 4.1 and it would just ring busy instead of ringing on the bridged appearances.

Cheers
