Hi,

Pls excuse me if this post has been entered into the worong forum but I just wasn't sure where was the best home for it....
So here goes....I have a designer running a PowerMac G5 with OSX 10.3.8. He has the Adobe Creative Suite installed running in OSX and he is also running Quark Xpress 4.11 in the Classic enviroment.
The problem is that when he double clicks on an image in a Quark Document, he then gets the option to open 'publisher' (the app that this image was created/saved in). So he clicks this but instead of immediately launching PhotoShop CS like it did on OS9 booting Mac, it sits there with the spinning dial for about 5 minutes then eventually PhotoShop opens. So it does work but this very straight forward command is struggling badly.

Is it simply because its switching Operating systems to do this ?

Right click or control click on the image file while in Finder and select Get Info. In the Open With section select Photoshop (the latest version the person has on the machine). If you want the others to do the same click Change all. This MIGHT help.

You have to remember that you're asking an OS 9 app to make a call on an OSX app. Quark is going to be looking for PS in the Classic area. OSX has to do some neat tricks to get that call switched over to PS CS. Things get worse when something was originally from Publisher. The best thing to do is, once the thing is open in PS, saving as a PS tiff or eps, so that Quark is making the call directly for the PS created image.
