HTTP Error 500-12 Application Restarting

About two weeks ago the message "HTTP Error 500-12 Application Restarting" began to occur whenever my intranet web pages loaded. We restarted the server and the problem seemed to vanish. Now it has returned. How do I find the source of this problem and stop it!

We have another intranet web that is almost identical, and the problem does not occur there.
