hello people,

i got a question, i'm makign this website it it would be sent to people on cd rom... how can i make this cd rom autorun? i need the index.htm start on cd insertion.

thanks

Create a file on the CD using a text editor with the following content:

[autorun]
OPEN=index.htm

Save it as filename autorun.inf
Also place autorun.exe on the CD - both files go in the CD's root directory.

Autorun.exe can be found in many places on the internet for download - just do a search.

All set! Newposter

Autorun.inf Editor: Easily create the special file that causes programs to run automatically when a CD is inserted

You can find it at Click the Free programs link and look for it listed. I have used it with much success in the past.

That's a good link, Moira... I have not failed; I have merely found 100,000 different ways of not succeding...

I found this with an application to download that also works as autorun, but i'm having some problems with it, can someone take a look at it and see if they can make it work??
I followed all the directions and yet it stil opens the defualt HTML instead of the one I specify, what am I doing wrong??
I created the autorun.inf file with this in it:
Code:
[autorun]
open=ShellExe.exe test.html
but it doesn't work...
Thanks... I have not failed; I have merely found 100,000 different ways of not succeding...

Are both the ShellExe.exe and test.html in the root directory of the *CD*? If not, you must specify the complete file path. Newposter

Yes they are both in the root directory...if you go to to the link, you can d/l the file and do a test...can you see if it works for you?? I have not failed; I have merely found 100,000 different ways of not succeding...

Me again, I had emailed the author of the shellexe.exe script and he just got back to me, the author said that I had to burn the files onto a CDR/RW in order for it to work, I did know that!! LOL, I was testing it right from the desktop...lol I have not failed; I have merely found 100,000 different ways of not succeding...
