In my .htaccess file, why does
RewriteRule ^(i)(.*)$ subdir/$1$2
work and
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ subdir/$1
not work?
The default file in my main directory is index.html. When I match one or more letters first, this works. If I change the (i) to a (.), this no longer works. This doesn't make any sense.
