When I read about HSRP, I didn't remember the book mentioning about which routing protocol it works with.
Is HSRP independent of any of the routing protocols? or is it protocol specific?
Thanks in advance.

HSRP is a layer 2 protocol. It doesn't work in conjunction with any routing protocols. All it does is allow you to have a virtual IP address, that exists on any number of routers. Only one router will have control of it at any time (active state). All other routers will be in standby state.
