I'm trying to figure out what i think to be a hsrp problem we are having with a few customers. I am 90% sure it's on their end that is causing this but i want to make sure.

We have multiple customers coming into our environment through a load balanced hsrp session, well sometimes the primary router decides there is too much traffic and lets the secondary take over. For most of the customer base nothing happens, for a few they are booted out and must reconnect. The problem is when they reconnect they are getting continuously dropped after app. 30 seconds. We are running nat on our end, and most likly so are the customers.

The only solution we have come up with is just to fail hsrp back to the primary. Yes this is pretty vague, i know and i apologize ahead of time, but we get very little time to troubleshoot. Any tips or ideas would be appreciated.

For some reason some of what you said dosen't sound right to me, but that could just be me. HSRP would only switch to the other router(s) if the the Forwarding router failed to work (link goes down, router crashes, etc). Load Balance with a failover is something like using OSPF or EIGRP with a floating default gateway and allowing Maximum Path useage. Not saying that you couldn't load balance using HSRP. Saying it doesn't sound like the fault lies within HSRP and the way you described the situation makes me want to know how you have things configured. Post some configs if you can, and some show ip route commands as well. If you can that is..
