Hi,

I have 4 of these PCs in our company which are being sold/given away to staff. They are original Pentiums (before II and III came out) from about 4 years ago.

They must have been supplied with Windows 95 as I have Windows 98 Upgrade disks and the base unit has a sticker on saying "Designed for Windows 95".

However, I have not been able to locate a CD which would enable me to pass on the PC to somebody else with a fresh copy of Windows and the original media.

Do you know if HP supplied Windows 95 CDs with these PCs?

Regards,
Jay/UK

Yes they did... You can still buy windows 95, but you can run 98 on these.

I have a vl series that came with win 95 and I reformated the drive and installed 98 with no complications. :}

I purchased a dozen of these systems for parts and they all were formatted with system files only. Have put Win98SE on some of them and they work flawlessly, don't need any other drivers.
Use a Win98 boot disk, at the a:> prompt type
format c: /s
This will format the drive and be ready for Windows installation. The test continues...

Hi everyone,

Thanks for trying to help.

There seems to be some misunderstanding. Did the PCs come with Windows 95 pre-loaded? Did they come with a CD for Windows 95? or some kind of restore disk?

If you can help me further, that'd be great.

Regards,
Jay/UK

The systems I purchased were formatted with the Win98 boot disk when I recieved them. They booted to the c:> prompt only, command.com the only file on the system. The test continues...

The ones I serviced came with preloaded 95 and a system restore cd that would take the system back to "as sold". I think it was "B" but it was a while ago. Ed Fair

They came in 2 flavors as I recall, depends the region, model and time. Some came with a disk, some were preloaded.
Bit ... keep in mind that if you used the Win95 version to use and maybe upgrade later, it counts as YOUR license. So, if you give it away, you give away your license in a way! If 'something' 'somewhere' gives 'some' error, excpect random guesses or no replies at all. Please specify details.
