I have an external HP Travan 14 gig tape drive. I received three tapes with the unit but do not know how much time they have on them. At $40.00 per tape for new ones, I would like to just stick with the ones that I have. Is this a bad idea or should I get new ones? Thanks in advance

It depends on how bad you want the data that is on the tapes. They will go bad over time and use and should be replaced. As to how long they will last I don't know.

The answer has always been 42
