I have an HP Pavillion 6355 that has a habit of beeping almost like a warning then freezing up. It is not windows specific because it will do it in Windows, my accounting software, and whatever else it feels like. HP says it is a hardware problem and would have to be sent in but I probly blew the warranty when I put in the 3com card. But has been in there for a while and no problems until recently.

Any Ideas?

Thanks

If it does it with some regularity sounds like it may be trying to go into some kind of sleep mode. I'm not real familiar with the HPs, but I would turn off the Power Management in the BIOS and see if that helps.

Al

I have turned off all the Powersave features as I do with any system that comes through my doors...so it has been off for a long time now, but thanks
You didn't blow the warrantee by putting in an expansion card of any type.

If it is a hardware problem, then that piece of hardware will have to be fixed. There rarely is a "patch" for hardware problems.

And some models have 3 yr on site warranty. Read your paperwork. If you carry it in it saves them a bunch of money. And if it does need carry in, try a warranty repair station. And test the machine before you leave the shop.
