Why won't my machine accept the drivers for a network adapter plugged into a USB port?

Because you're running Win95? Not much USB support for any version of 95.

What version of 95 are you running and what is the exact model of USB NIC you are using? Are you trying to go wireless? We need more information.

Win95 hasn't got USB support - the last version released in 97 has a sort of dummy support (USB registers in device manager but nothing works). You'll need to upgrade to 98 to get this to work - or buy a PCI card instead, and fit it internally (though you may still have problems getting one with 95 drivers).
