can anyone advise please - I have a hp omnibook xe3 p3 650mhz. the machine has a tv out socket that should be enabled via the s3 duo vue settings. however in my control panel rather than showing the duo vue monitor it shows two separate monitors - on of them my laptop display and one of them an external monitor - when i first brought the laptop the duo vue was there. I have tried to install it and all the drivers are there however i cannot find it listed under monitor types or adaptor types. I have re-installed the thing more times than i know what all to no avail

Can anyone advise me what to do - please no ameteurs stating the obvious - I am a hardware engineer - you can rest assured that I have tried the obvious.

I haven't used one of these setups, so this is a guess:

Maybe one of the "monitors" shown is the TV; ie there is an icon for the laptop display, and another for the TV port:

Even though there is no TV connected, it's possible that the port on the card sends a signal to Win9x to say that there is a reserved address for a monitor on this port. Windows then displays this ghost monitor.

One simple test is to try to adjust settings for it. If you can't, then it's likely that the port is intelligent enough to know that there is no device - but it's reserving address space for the device anyway.

I'd be interested to know if this is the case!

Settings>display>Advanced>NeoMagic Tab,You can set the duel display from there.
