I have 2 printers. 1 is an HP laserjet 3100 the other is an HP laserjet 4L. I am running Windows 2000. The 4L works fine until I install the 3100. As soon as the 3100 drivers/software is installed, then my 4L gives me the error: "error printing document to port LPT1". Does anybody recognize this problem, if so does anybody know how to fix it?

How are they connected? When you installed the driver for the 3100 did you ensure that the 4L was still set as default printer? Check to see what the default printer is. You may have the 3100 set as default instead. so when you print it wont do it. James Collins

One is in my home office and the other is in my office at work. They are both connected with a parallel cable. I can't even print a test page from the printer properties. The 3100 works fine, but the 4L won't work at all.
