Has anyone had a problem with OSPF if a cable is disconnected for less than 3 seconds on a port on this switch...?

When I reboot a software on a device that is terminated on the HP5800 series switch, the link goes down for aprox 3 sec. When the link goes down OSPF will activate the next route and this works fine. But when the link comes up it should activate the default route again, but this does not happen. I have to manually take out the RJ-45 plug for more than 10 seconds, and put it back in to reactivate the default route.

Basicly what I'm saying is that OSPF will not work if the link is down for less than 10 seconds.

Let me think....

OSPF has Shortest Path First Timers that it applies when it sees a link go down before recalculating a new route, this i believe is to prevent a flapping link from causing the OSPF process from having to flood the area with LSA every time the link goes down and up, other wise all of the other routers in the area will need to keep on running the SPF algorthim and that would put too much of a load on the CPU.

The device that you are rebooting? what is it? a server? router?

It's a nortel VoIP. Had to reboot when adjusted some gain levels, the problem was that it never came back up and I couldn't understand why before I looked further in to the switches. I have confirmed by a another customer we have with almost the same setup, and they also have the same problem.
