How will a 66MHz MB react to 133MHz ram?

I currently have a 64MB 66MHz DIMM on my P233MMx home PC. I'm planning on upgrading my whole system, but think for now more ram will suffice. Since my new comp will likely be PIII800 and 133MHz FSB, I want to buy a 256MB 133MHz DIMM now and use it in my existing system until I upgrade the rest.

Will it work or am I wasting my time?

It should work, you just can't use memory slower than your bus. This should be ok, as long as your current MB can see a DIMM that big, you can ignore the fsb stuff if the mb is slower than the ram. The ram controller will page the ram at 66mhz, and since the ram is twice that, it will be easy for it to keep up. If, however, your mb was 133 and the ram 66, the mb would query the ram too quickly and you'd have problems.

good luck!
mwb. As always, I hope that helped!
