How can I make my web browser (and outlook express) use the IP in the hosts file (c:\winnt\system32\drivers\etc\hosts on my win2K system) before querying my dns server?
I want to override the entry in the DNS server with a setting I give it. Pinging a domain in the hosts file works, but the browser/email client seems to
The reason I want to do this is so that when I preview a spam email, I don't want it to retrieve images from the web to notify the sender that I have viewed their junk mail. I am getting spam containing image tags that retrieve blank images from exceip.com who keeps a log of current valid emails to send more spam to!
