I want to remove my WinXP Pro and change it to win98SE. is there any way to do it without have to format the hard drive?
I also have another computer already installed win 98SE together with previous WinXP on it. How to remove the XP boot loader so the PC will automatically boot into win98?

You can create dual boot, but you cant "remove" XP and install 98 without reformating really. Essentially, you can get it to appear that way, but XP will still be sat there hogging disk space.

Hope this Helps.

Assuming the disk is formatted using FAT (If its NTFS you have no option but to re-format) I assume (because I have never actually done this) that you could.

Backup any essential data (to be on the safe side)
Boot a DOS floppy
Delete the contents of the root
cd c:
cd \
attrib *.* -r -h -s
del .
Remove the Windows folder and all sub folders
c:
cd \windows
deltree *.* /y
cd \
rd windows
Similarly remove the documents and settings folder and all sub-folders
Boot to the 98 CDROM & install it.

However - installed programs probably won't run and will need re-installing.

Remember - this is an educated guess!
Before you try it - make a full disk image if you can using something like Acronis True Image (the 30 day trial will suffice if you get on with it! LOL)
