Our current 506 has a bad power connection and looses power from time to time. So I have a replacement on the way but I have not had to transfer a config from one PIX to another. What is the best way to tranfer a config to another PIX? Are there any step-by-step instructions anyplace? Anything to look out for?

Thanks!!!

I would cut and paste it myself. You could also save it to a tftp server and download it onto the new pix.

I like using the TFTP Method (because I am not physically connected to each PIX), with several servers to choose from that are free. I use PumpKIN from Klever. Also there is a free one from SolarWinds that you could download to use. Just google them.

Thanks to both of you for your advise. I ended up adding the necessary config lines by hand and then verifying that the two configs were identical before switching out the equipment. I also upgraded the OS to 6.3.4 by using the TFTP program from SolarWinds before putting the replacement PIX in our production environment. So far so good with the new PIX.

Thanks!
