I just need to know how to transfer a Microsoft Outlook personal adress book (just that) from one user to another on the same computer.

Thanx a lot.

Marco

Hi CyberCivic.

Haven't read earlier. Sorry. ;-)

Search for a "*.pab" file on your computer.
This is the personal address book.
Now copy that to the other machine.
There, start Outlook.
Assumed you have OL 2000:

Go to tools - services (or accounts)
Click on "Add"
-->personal addreess book
browse to the pab file and implement that.
Now, in the "services" dialog, click on the "Addressing" tab (OlXP: Address book-->tools-->options)
Add your personal address book to the addressing list

;-)

Thanx man, but I forgot to mention that the outlook is the xp(2002). Is it different? 'cause I think I already did the search for the *.pab file and didn't find it.

Should be the same.
If you do have a personal address book (you must have defined one earlier), then you should find it in
C:\\Documents and Settings\<User>\Local Settings\Application data\Microsoft\Outlook

If there is none, export/import your data:
With file-import/export, choose "export to file",
choose a format (e.g. MS Excel),
choose your "Contacts" folder and then choose a file name to save to.

Copy this file to the other machine and import it into the contacs folder - voilà!

Minor point in finding the file (or any files) inside C:\\Documents and Settings\<User>\Local Settings\Application data\:

You'll need to change Folder Options>View tab>Hidden files and folders option to "Show hidden files and folders" as that folder is otherwise hidden, and search won't find it either.

Sloth is the mother of invention. Necessity is just a mother...

Thanks ttterk. Forgot about that as I always view all files...
