We have a nortel 81c with succession 3.0. We are having to go to 7 digit dialing (we are at 4 now). The problem is we have to change a couple of our trunks to 7 digit before we change. I was wondering how to strip off the first 3 digits that we will get from the distant end until we get 7 digit dialing on our DID trunks. Any help is greatly appreciated.

You need to build an IDC table in LD 49 and then apply it to the route involved.

Also make sure you have the DN Expansion Package in your PBX, it allows you to go more than 4 digits.

To apply it to the route you say YES at the IDC prompt and then it will prompt you for DCNO which is day IDC table then it will prompt you for NCNO which is the night IDC table. If you don't have a console you will always be in nights. Most of the time the DCNO and NCNO are the same.

First of all KCFLHTK thanks for the help. That looks like it will work. But do you know of anything that will just strip the prefix. The IDC will make it where i will have to convert each number. Problem being I will have to convert 3000 numbers. Seems like there would be a way to just drop the first three leading digits. Thanks.

This might work for you but I have never tried this. Is your route type DID, TIE or what?
