Here is the deal...I have seen this posted before but not explained how it was first accomplished...

I have a computer (mine) directly connected to cable router internet...it also has a D-Link wireless router attached to broadcast Wi-Fi to the laptop (wife's).

Now I have my HP printer hooked up via USB to my computer (mine).

Now since the laptop(wife) computer is able to grab the internet wirelessly then there should be able to have the computers share files and such (SOMEHOW???) but for now I would like to know how to set it up to where the laptop can hit "PRINT" and it would go directly to my computer to use the HP printer that is attached my computer to print.

Thanks guys...

Right click on your HP and select Sharing, then give it a share name.
Install the driver in the other computer using LPT1. after the driver is installed go into the properties and on ports page select new port and see if you can browse to it. The port should look something like \\wifeycomp\HP
Where wifeycomp is the name of your wifes comp and HP is the share name you picked in the previous step.

Is the printer shared?
Is File and Printer Sharing enabled?

right click on Network properties, >right click on LAN connection, look for "File and Print Sharing" in the properties box.
What are the OSs of the two comps?

I am guessing you cant share files either. I think the problem is in the connection.

Do you have 2 routers? or is the first one mentioned a cable modem. If not I dont think you are sharing a network.

Also make sure they are both in the same workgroup, this is often overlooked.
File and print sharing should be enabled in the XP firewall if you're using it or anyother firewall.
