I have a careers email address that I would like to send an automated response for candidates that send email to this address.

Thanks!!!

What email program and version are you using? Outlook 2000, Outlook Express? Are you on an Exchange server?

The solution is different in each case.

Outlook XP on Windows XP with and Exchange 5.5 SP4 server in a Windows 2000 domain.

Create a rule to have Exchange Server send an automatic reply

On the Tools menu, click Rules Wizard.
In the Apply changes to this folder list, click the Inbox you want to create the rule for.
Click New.
Click Start from a blank rule.
Click Check messages when they arrive, and then click Next.
In the Which condition(s) do you want to check list, select the From people or distribution list check box.
In the Rule description list, click the underlined phrase, people or distribution list. (there should be option for an account in xp)
In the Type name or select from list box, type the name of each person you want to receive the custom reply, and click From after you type each name.
Click OK, and then click Next.
In the What do you want to do with the message list, select the Have server reply using a specific message check box.
In the Rule description list, click the underlined phrase, a specific message.
In the subject line and message body, type whatever information you'd like to appear in your custom reply.
Click Close, and when prompted to save changes, click Yes.
Click Next, and select the check box next to any exception that you want.
Click Next, and in the Please specify a name for this rule box, type a name for the rule.
Click Finish, and then click OK.
That's it. Now, when you receive a message from one of the people you specified in step 8, they'll automatically receive your custom response.

Important When you set up a rule to automatically reply to someone, the Rules Wizard will send a reply for each message you receive from that person.

This is all I have seen and it says for outlook2000
It should be similiar in XP.

Thanks.

Ok guys... this is an autogenerated message I want for all external people sending mail to this address. They are not a part of our Global address list. That is the problem I am having... how to set up the autoreply for ALL incoming mail to this address??

I believe that you can also apply this rule to all incoming email messages, instead of applying it to specific email addresses.

You can autoreply for all of your incoming messages to your exchange account.

ON the step where you pick a condition check mark the one that says to a specific account.
Then under rule description you click on specified and pick exchange server. Click next then under what do you want to do with the message you put a check in the box next to have server reply using a specific message.

The rest of the directions above should finish it for you. This is with Office XP. Good luck
