Hi all,

My network consists of Windows 98 PCs and a Windows 2K advance server box. Sometimes I would like to inform something to other members in my network, I mean I want to send a message which immediately appears on the screen of other PCs in my network while these members are doing something, for example, they are running Microsoft Word, Internet Explorer... Or vice versa, some members using Windows 98 sometimes like to send me a message the same way. Until now, I have tried many ways but I couldn't get that. Is there anyone knowing how to do that, please tell me.

Anynhelp would be appreciated.

You will want to use Net send from the command line

It goes something like this--
net send jerrypc jerry stop playing Doom!
jerrypc being the computer name and the rest being the message. Your can also send to everyone it think you just use a star for the name. type net send at the command prompt for more help (on the Y2k server box)

Now the question is will the 98 client receive this message -- No they wont unless you run winpopup. To start this program just type winpopup in the run box. This is the bad news it has to stay running for them to revieve the messages. I have seen other types of the winpopup client that run in the tray and freeware that makes the winpopup run in the system tray. -- you will have to hunt may some one else knows?

Useing what you have you can launch winpopup in the startup folder. This way it will be on when the clients logon -- You will just have to tell them not to close the app down.
You can also use winpopup to send messages.

good luck :)
