How to run Perl script from Server Side Include file

I'd really like to run .pl files from my .stm files. I've tried:
<!--#exec cgi=&quot;cgi-bin/hello_wold.pl&quot;-->
like it suggests on microsoft's website but nothing happens.

Silly me! If I insert a slash like:
[tt]
<!--#exec cgi=&quot;/cgi-bin/hello_wold.pl&quot;-->
{/tt]
