How to run external application without oracle client installed

Is there a way to access oracle from front-end application without installing oracle client?

Server: W2K
Oracle ver: 8i

You may use Java, in this case you need only jdbc driver (single jar file about 1Mb)

Do you need o access Oracle or Forms? To run Forms you obviously must install its runtime.

sorry dima i overlooked the "from" in the oracle from front-end application in the original question so all my questions were abt accessing the Forms and i was excited that there's some way to access forms without installing the forms run-time.

In fact 3-tier deployment doesn't require anything besides browser to be installed on client side.
