I am having trouble getting into some 1140e's. They get to a screen saying the firmware version and starting DHCP but never get beyond that. I have tried color*set and **73639mac## but i nothing works. Please help!!

You can do a reset:

mute
up arrow
down arrow
up
down
up
mute
9

Hey thanks for the reply John, i tried it on two phones and they come back to the same screen again and say DHCP error and then back to starting DHCP. I do have one that comes up to a user login screen and asks for admin PW but nothing i try works on it either.

Ratherbhntn,

Do the Mute up, down, up, down, up, down, up, mute, 9, rel

Then on the Nortel splash screen hit the four soft keys at the bottom of the display in order from left to right.

That should get you in.

The admin password would be color*set like you said unless you changed it. I haven't heard of the **73639mac##

Yea on the DHCP error ones you will likely need to change them to perform partial DHCP so hit the four soft keys as mentioned by RyanEOD.

I did find a document elsewhere about resetting an 1140 back to factory default, so if I locate that I can post.

Ahhh .. Gwebster posted it in another thread and you were on there ... did you really put the MAC of the phone? That should put it back to factory default and then you should be able to use the color*set for admin password.

Example MAC (look at back of phone)
aa:72:bc:f1:34:9e ... so you would enter 227222313493

If you are using C6E or later firmware:
**73639[MAC]## - where [MAC] is the MAC address of the phone using the 2 key for A/B/C and the 3 key for D/E/F. You can also think of it as **RESET[MAC]##.

You can enter this at any time once the IP Phone is powered up. If you have the phone configured for "Live Dial Pad" on a CS 1000, then it must be turned off for this sequence to work.

Hey, Tman45, I have the mac of the phone but i'm unsure of when to use the reset, do you put it in at the user login screen or when? I've tried it several times and nothing happens.

Just as Gwebster said in the other post ... you can enter the MAC (factory reset) as soon as the phone is powered up.
I would try this on the phones that you cannot access the admin password screen. Good luck.
