I am trying to remove a server from my active directory that I had been using while doing some testing, but i goofed up and removed the server from the network and rebuilt the system witout removing it from the active directory, now i have the server name still stuck in the domain controllers list and i need to demote my servers in order to rename my domain name......how can i remove the server from the domain when it really is not there anyway
HELP..!!

You can use the NTDSUTIL.exe program to force the removal.

The program is on the server CD under support tools, althought you may wanna check to see if there's an updated version.

You may have to run this in directory services restore mode (F8).

Hope this helps, I'm having a problem with AD too and found out about this whilst researching my own problem.
