was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction to obtain info on reformating the hard drive on a windows 95 machine ( its a tech-media 266mhz) i am purchasing it from a friend for 30$ but it has many errors at boot up and i wanted to try to reformat it first before trying anything else. i believe he has all the original disks and such so i guess i just need to know what disk to use and what to type at the prompts (and how to get to the prompts) for a clean install???
any and all help is greatly appriciated! thanks

You boot off disk 1. Should be able to kick out of automatic install to do fdisk and remove the primary partition. Reboot the machine and let it install from disk 1.
You may have a problem since disk 2 will have the friends registration info and it will want to keep it. Ed Fair

just insert a win98 or win 95 or winme startup disket into drive let boot from it and type format c: /s.
after the HD is being formated insert the windows cd and type setup
