Is it possible to recover accidently deleted records using transaction log?

Thanks
Tareq

It's Nice to Be Important But It's more Important to BE Nice

Not really. If you're using the full recovery model and are taking transaction log backups then you can restore to a point in time directly before the records were deleted. Obviously any other changes that have been made since that point will have to be redone.

BTW, I think there are some third party tools that let you examine the t-log but I've never used them. Maybe someone else can give you some more details?

Call 1-800-mircosoft then tell them to implement 'Undo' feature in sql server [smile].

The only 3rd party log tool I encountered so far is Log Explorer by Lumigent (google =>).

Does Log Explorer have any caveats, Vongrunt? Or do you consider it the best thing since sliced bread?

Remember, "Work" is a four letter word. And you know what your mother told you about using four letter words!

To be honest, I don't know. My experience with LE was short and happened long time ago (v2.1 I think). Such tools are typically used (after being instantly ordered :X) when things get really ugly. In my case, someone deleted important data without trace and no recent backup - kind of small detective work.
