Hi,

The current Avaya PBX at my company reachs the limit. Is there any possibility to install new VOIP technology (suppose prodecus from Avaya) and then "combine" to re-use the traditonal Avaya PBX ?

Thanks in advance

Long Le

Give us a hint as to the existing system.

We can then make a more informed answer.

The existing PBX is :

- 13 Avaya slots with 192 ports. Merlin MAGIX Integrated release 7.0 is employed to manage.

My boss is asking me to find a solution to host 500 ports (= phone extensions) .

I have no hints, nor enough background. I thought just adding more slot to host more ports. It turns out impossible.

I am hearing about VOIP etc... but the budget is undefined yet. Additonally, jumping to VOIP without pilot attempt is risky. The approach I try is to install another new system , tnen mix it with the existing one.

I'm reading the Asterik system. Is it a possible solution ?

Thank you

Long Le

To manage 500 plus extensions - you will need something more powerful than a Magix system (which tops out at 200 extensions and 80 lines). You will probably have to move up to a Definity system. I don't know if VOIP goes to that level - but I would very leery - even if it did.

VOIP can be expanded to that size and larger.

I am not an expert on that system, but I think if you were to post your issues on forum940, you may get some answers you can use.

There are some tricks we can use to link Multiple Legend/Magix systems (AT A SINGLE LOCATION) together to accommodate a lot more than 500 Extensisons, but it is my understanding the IP Office can do that task in a more economical manner.

However, if the requirement is to have a total of 500 Extensions spread out over MULTIPLE LOCATIONS, then the Merlin Legend/Magix can be the IDEAL soulution.

So, are you talking about 1 location with 500 Extensions or several locations with a total of 500 extensions?[/color blue]
