Greetings to you in Sweden!
I have not used InDesign so cannot compare the two. I have been with Quark since version 3, so have grown with it as it has grown. We all know the software, and there would be a learning curve to switch to InDesign, not to mention a great amount of time, which we don't have. I do know of people who have made the switch and having worked in it awhile now, prefer InDesign. All of us who use Quark however, are perfectly content with it.
Our printers are happy with Quark, and being a publisher, we would have tons of books/materials to update. It just wouldn't be practical for us to consider a change at this time. Not that we want to.
Good luck in your layout projects!
Another thing I didn't previously mention, when you make a document from scratch, bringing in copy from a Word program, select all the text and apply NO STYLE. This will "detach" any "normal" styles you may have set up in the document. otherwise the styles may not apply as you try to assign them. Also, when bringing in text from the word processing program, deselect "include styles"
Another thing, if you have certain fonts you want to be default, start up the application but do not open a document. Now change those items you wish to default. This can be done for colors, hyphenation, etc. Anything that is not grayed out you can make a default . Then when you start a new document, you will have all of those items as default.
Existing documents will not take these defaults; you would have to change them in the document when opened.
Hope some of this helps further.
