Is there a way to set Quark to print pages automatically
in the following manner:

For a 44 page manual which is actually 11 pages folded where
page 1 and page 44 are on one side
page 2 and page 43 on the other side etc.

Or do I have to place page 1 and 44 on one a single page in quark then 2 and 43 etc. or is there a way to set up Quark to do all that for me?

Talk to whoever is going to output it. They probably (if they're any good) have imposition software that takes care of all that for you, so all you need to provide is a 44 page Quark document starting from page 1 and ending with page 44.

I worked in a digital printers for years, and one of the frustrating things about it was when people brought jobs in late because they were so busy doing things like imposition manually in Quark. Then I had to work late undoing all their work (cos it was usually wrong) and finally spent about, ooooh, 30 seconds running it through our imposition software!

I haven't seen an automatic way for Quark to lay out the document you describe without third party XTensions or pre-flight software, so if your printer can't do it, you'll have to do it manually. However, I'd strongly recommend looking for a printer that can!
