how to open new window for search

many articles out there say that to open a new window for your search results, you should enter the following line in your Search Results.dwp:
<OpenNewWindowForMatchingItems xmlns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:sharepoint:DataResultBase">true</OpenNewWindowForMatchingItems>

i did it and it doesn't seem to work.
has anyone else tried it?
