How to open a port

Hi,

I'm trying to use XP's remote desktop connection. But i can't connect to the other computer.

I'm wondering if i should open a port, but which do i open and do i have to open it on the router (which is at the office of my ISP) or can i open it on the machine i want to have the connection with??
