I need someones help. I just started a job today and I feel like such an idiot.I need to open a pdf file that I believe was created in Acrobat 6?? in Quark 6.5.

The comapny has a G5.

Thank you to anyone that can help. It is so great to have professional helping beginners.

I will keep searching for an answer I am sorry if it has been asked before.

You can't "open a PDF" in Quark.
You have to place it, command+e or File>get picture

Now it will only come in if the PDF is an Acrobat 4 PDF (v1.3).

So you have to open the PDF in Acrobat 6 go to:
Advanced>PDF Optimiser, change the settings so it it is compatable with Acrobat version 4 then hit ok and it will ask you to save it somewhere.

You will then be able to place it into Quark.

Keeping in mind that the comversion down to Acrobat 4 (i think) will negate any features with were part of Acrobat 6 (transparency etc)

I can place Acrobat 5 no problem??? It's Acrobat 6 that's incompatible. Optimizing as Acrobat 5 should work fine.

Thank you both so much for the replies. I have been researching this to no end (as I would like to keep this "day old" position) I understand that Quark 6.5 is not compatible with Acrobat 6 and I will need to have the files saved in version 4.

So is a PDF file that is save with Acrobat 6 (v1.5), and Acrobat 5 (v1.4)??

Thanks again I am so appreciative that a new user has some where to go to get some answers.
