DID number ranges are not programmed as such in the Definity / CM.
Dialed Number Identification Service (DNIS)
Direct Inward Dial (DID)
Mapping of digits and length is controlled by the provider.
Call your provider and ask what your DID ranges and all numbers routed from the
public network to your trunk circuits.
Besides DID, DNIS digits for other numbers like 800, 877 is another thing to
ask for.
Called number 800-222-1234 - DNIS 3000, 2221234, 1234 are all possible, it's not
always the last 4 digits. Many public numbers can be routed to your trunks and
the provider can send DNIS digits for these to the trunk when seized. These
digits may or may not match your PBX dialplan.
Ordering DNIS service and planning is important when ordering new numbers or
when switching providers. Not matching DNIS digits to work with your PBX's
dialplan can be a housekeeping nightmare, not to mention, the difficulty to
troubleshoot call flow.
